His performance last summer at the Manchester International Festival proved once again that Damon can do no wrong, whatever he does. Even that freaky Chinese opera, “Monkey: Journey To The West”, was more than curious. He's a guy who adapts to any kind of situation: he has no complexes, is a restless soul and - importantly - is smart in that he knows who to work with in order to get the best out of himself. I'm going to be in the store with my credit card ready on the day “Dr. Dee” is released. And that's a promise.

African journeys, super groups with old people, charity albums, and now, an opera. It seems Damon Albarn lives to torture his fans with his never-ending search for a new artistic identity that will satisfy the whims of his colossal ego. The Blur leader should be aware that if people still listen to him, it's because they know he can write great pop songs. The last thing we need is another Paul McCartney (hasn't Albarn learned anything from the murderous reviews of “Ocean's Kingdom”?) and, even less, another Andrew Lloyd Webber student. Damon, leave off it and start doing what you do best. The world will thank you for it.
