Efterklang Present “Piramida”

Listen to their new album

For “Piramida”, their fourth full-length, Danish trio Efterklang spent nine days making field recordings in the old Russian mine, situated on an island between Norway and the North Pole, the album takes its name from. From the ghostly, abandoned installations, they obtained a collection of deep and spectral sounds, which they later combined with different kinds of instrumentation and additional elements, such as a 70-piece girls choir, thus constructing the ten tracks featured here. On the LP, melancholy, experimentation, and sonic opulence go hand in hand in carefully built, abyssal instrumentals with some desolate melodies. The record will be out on 25th September on 4AD, but you can listen to it now in its entirety, courtesy of NPR.
