Carpark Records has just announced its first big release for 2013, Toro Y Moi's third album, “Anything In Return”, due out on 22nd January. In Interview magazine, Chaz Bundick said: “I'm just trying to make sincere pop music that's not all processed and bubblegum. Underground isn't always relevant; I want to see what's popular, then put my own spin on it.” This effort is the result of his moving from South Carolina to Berkeley, California, and the subsequent separation from his loved ones.
According to the press note, the new LP is an intuitive pop production, a collection of songs with 4/4 beats, house-like sounds, hip-hop-like confidence, Californian funk flavours and some of the darkest moods ever created by Toro Y Moi. We can't wait to hear it.
