The fact that last summer, Spencer Krug and Dan Boeckner continued their respective side projects - Moonface and Handsome Furs - almost simultaneously, led us to suspect that Wolf Parade's hiatus might be longer than expected. It now looks even more likely, with Krug releasing a new album as Moonface, “With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery”. This time he worked with Finnish group Siinai, which gives the album more of a band sound, removed from the oceans of synths on “Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped”. At least, that's what it sounds like on the first advance track, “Teary Eyes And Bloody Lips”.
Word has it Spencer Krug landed in Finland last August to work with Siinai - and their sessions resulted in ten tracks that mix the oblique melodies and first-rate pop of the former with the simplicity and repetitive sketches of the latter. The album's central theme is broken love. The stories told come from Krug - taking his own experiences, stories told by friends and pure fiction as sources of inspiration. The record will be out on 17th April via Jagjaguwar.
