Van She Put Out Their Second Album In July

The Australians let you hear the first single from “Idea Of Happiness”

It’s been four years since Van She positioned themselves as one of the up-and-coming bands on the bustling Australian pop scene with “V” (Modular, 2008). It was an album that brought together unvarnished synth-pop, luminous dream pop, and controlled shoegaze, with highly enjoyable results. This coming 9th July, Van She will be back in style with their second LP for Modular, “Idea Of Happiness”, an album that they produced themselves in Sydney. It was mixed by Tony Hoffer, responsible for the sound of albums by Beck, Air and M83.

There are still many months left ahead until we can thoroughly enjoy the result, but we can already begin to savour the shining song that will give the album its title. As immediate as any anthem by their adored Phoenix or the Cut Copy of “ In Ghost Colours”, the piece is irresistible from the first listen - with that instant chorus and the pampered lines of synthesizers, accompanying the frenetic guitar, that presides over this sweet advance. While waiting for the video for "Idea Of Happiness" (due out in a few weeks), we’ve left you with this short teaser of eye-candy after the jump. What is your idea of happiness?
