Liars Reveal The Title Of Their New Album: “WIXIW”

The trio also release a first advance track, “No. 1 Against The Rush”

A week ago we gave you the first details on the new Liars album, though at the time we didn't know its title yet. Now, the band have revealed that the LP's going to be called WIXIW” (to be pronounced as “wish you”), and that it'll feature eleven tracks. The first single from the record, No. 1 Against The Rush”, due out on 29th May, can now be streamed from their Facebook page, in exchange for a “Like”. As they told us seven days ago, the tune shows the trio's most accessible side.

According to Angus Andrew, the title came about because:

'wish you’ is a familiar and universal sentiment of longing and hope, but when misspelt becomes uniquely shrouded and difficult to interpret, which in many ways is representative of our music and the songs we wrote for this album. The word being a palindrome offered us some comfort, and came from superstitious behaviour that was the result of extreme uncertainty and doubt. The word and spelling struck us because it seemed to exude a special quality or power.

Mute will release the album on 5th June, check the trailer below.
