This time last year, Diplo and Switch invited us to a sneak peek at the recording sessions in Jamaica for their second LP as Major Lazer. We've heard two tracks since then, the euphoric and beefy bass stepper called “Original Don ” , and “Get Free ”, the reggae-pop tune featuring Amber Coffman from Dirty Projectors. Now a release date has been set for an album that's been two years in the making, during which time Switch has removed himself from the project's core; though he's still collaborating as a producer, Diplo is now “the sole executive producer for the project” .
Major Lazer's second album will be called “Free The Universe”, and it will be out on 6th November on Mad Decent/Downtown. Among the guests are, apart from Coffman, Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend, Jahdan Blakkamoore, Bruno Mars, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, Wynter Gordon, Dev, Tyga, and Flux Pavilion, among others.
