Like good New Yorkers, Sarah Register and Andrya Ambro have always been fascinated by noise-rock and the sensory craftsmanship of bands like Sonic Youth. Their debut as Talk Normal, “ Sugarland” (Rare Book Room Records, 2009), landed them gigs with the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Zola Jesus, and they even recorded a split 7” with Thurston Moore himself. Three years later, Sarah and Andrya are back with a self-produced album, on which they prove that melodic dissonance and vigorous noise can sound more than beautiful.
Talk Normal's new LP is called “ Sunshine”, and it will be released on 23rd October, on Joyful Noise. Those who've had the chance to hear it say that the Americans have broadened their sound and influences, without losing the urgency and visceral quality that characterise them. As a first appetiser, we leave you with this “ Bad Date”.
