New Damon Albarn Solo Album In May

“Dr. Dee” features songs he wrote for the musical of the same title

On 8th May, EMI will release a new solo album by Damon Albarn, “ Dr. Dee”. The Blur wrote the “strange, pastoral folk songs” for a musical with the same title about John Dee, mathematician, wise man and advisor of Queen Elizabeth I. According to label, the singer's voice is combined with old English choir music, Renaissance instrumentation and modern, West African sounds.

“Dr. Dee” was recorded late last year at Albarn's studio in West London and in Salford, with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, while Valgeir Sigurðsson did the mixing, in Reykjavik. The album will be out on CD, vinyl and digital.
