The Brooklyn based L.I.E.S. label, directed by Ron Morelli (who recently signed a highly recommendable set for PlayGround), has just announced the release of the compilation “ American Noise”. The double CD gives you an idea of the shape the platform is in right now, including a fistful of unreleased tracks by the artists on its roster.
The first disc features some of the highlights from the back catalogue, with 11 tracks that have been previously released on 12”. Many of those were only released as limited edition white labels, such as the tunes by Marcos Cabral, Terekke, and Thorn Hawk. There's also room for the label's earliest releases, by Steve Moore, and Legowelt, alongside a track from the Jahilyya Fields album.
The second CD boasts new productions by the likes of Delroy Edwards, Terekke, Bonquiqui (Xosar's tropical house alias), and the Unknown Artist collective, all of them previously unreleased, except for Torn Hawk, Marcos Cabral and Delroy Edwards, which were on the compilation 12” released a few weeks back as a teaser for “American Noise”. The CD release is set for 1st December.
