Almost two years after “ Black City”, Ghostly International is revealing details about the upcoming album by Matthew Dear. The label uses one of the verses from the first tracks on “ Beams”, “It’s alright to be someone else sometimes”, to comment on the excursions into rock (almost punk, on “ Earthforms”, they say) and left-field pop that Dear allows himself to undertake, always in his own way, on an LP described as a kaleidoscopic voyage. The lyrics will be personal, stories of vulnerability and confusion that express the feeling of having several personalities living in one body, while musically speaking the record could be the bright counterpoint to its predecessor.
The album, recorded in Dear's home studio in New York and mixed at Rare Book in Brooklyn, will be out on 27th August, on Ghostly. The single “ Her Fantasy” will be out on 5th June. Listen to it after the jump.
