Until now, the album containing The Flaming Lips’ collaborations with people like Bon Iver, Erykah Badu, Nick Cave, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Ke$ha, Neon Indian, Lightning Bolt, Prefuse 73 and Yoko Ono was only available in two fairly exclusive formats: a very limited-edition vinyl that came out for last Record Store Day and the special edition, just a few dozens of which were issued. The latter contained —pressed into the inside of the transparent record—blood from the veins of many of the participants in the album. All told, just a couple of hundred people have been able to get their hands on the fetish in any of its forms. But now, seeing as the demand easily surpasses the offer of physical copies of the album, Wayne Coyne and company have decided to release the album normally. This means that “The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends” will come out on CD and digitally this coming 26th June on Warner Bros. So you no longer have an excuse for not having it.
Fans of the band get ready; they have also announced that there will be a new album this autumn. We hope to be able to bring you more details about it soon.
