Efterklang Return In September With Their Fourth Album

“Piramida” contains samples recorded in an abandoned Russian settlement on Spitsbergen

4AD announced the release of Efterklang's fourth album. Piramida” will be out on 24th September. The production started last August, when Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen, and Rasmus Stolberg went on an unusual, nine-day aural expedition to an abandoned Russian settlement in Spitsbergen, a Norwegian island located near the North Pole. The album title is taken from the name of the settlement, which was abandoned overnight in the 90s, and left there to decay.

To give you an idea of what happened on the fascinating trip, the Danish band have made a trailer for the record, in which they show how they got some of the 1000+ sounds sampled on “Piramida”, from glass bottles to the northernmost grand piano.
