Editions Mego Presents Recollection GRM

Digging through the archives of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales

Peter Rehberg's label family just keeps growing. While not too long ago, Sensate Focus, a new imprint focusing on what they call “neat house”, joined the group, now it's Recollection GRM, another new Editions Mego subsidiary for the reissue on vinyl of some of the best pieces created by the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (Musical Research Group), an experiment lab and work group investigating electro-acoustic sound and music, founded by Pierre Schaeffer in 1958 in Paris, after he left the Groupe de Recherche de Musique Concrète.

Two Recollection GRM titles will be released every three months. Every piece will be re-mastered and re-cut at the Berlin Dubplates & Mastering studios, and will be presented with new artwork designed by Stephen O'Malley (Sun O)))) and liner notes in French and English.

The first title will be the full version of “Le Trièdre Fertile”, one of the last works of Pierre Schaeffer, the only purely electronic one he made, created between 1975 and 1976 using synthetic sounds developed by Bernard Dürr. The second reference is for “Granulations-Sillages / Franges du Signe”, a compilation of the two works of Guy Reibel, composed with electro-acoustic tools in 1974 and 1976, respectively. Both records will be available starting 5th June.
