Black To Comm Puts Music To The Film “EARTH”

Marc Richter scores Ho Tzy Nyen's “post-apocalyptic collage”

With the new delivery of Black To Comm, experimental musician Marc Richter brings us the score to silent movie "EARTH", by Singapore artist Ho Tzy Nyen. The film is “a post-apocalyptic collage based on the works of classic European painters like Caravaggio, Delacroix, Rembrandt and Géricaul. Richter translates the images to music, using similar collage techniques, combining samples of looped vinyls, acoustic and electronic instruments and voice. Made under the influence of several sedatives while recovering from a broken leg, the music of "EARTH" is about “slowness and decay, states of unconsciousness, sleeping and waking up, dying and being reborn”.

The German worked with David Aird (alias Vindicatrix), Rutger Zuydervelt and Christopher Kline on the vocal parts, as well as Renate Nikolaus, who contributed several instruments and sound sources. The album is available now on vinyl and CD via De Stijl. Here we leave you with one of the tracks.
