It had to happen sooner or later: Ben Gibbard ’s ever-growing presence in the media as part of Death Cab For Cutie, his changing cities (creating a greater physical distance between him and the other band members), and his new, mature, musical sensibility, will soon be reflected in his first solo album, signed with his own name. “Former Lives” will be out on 16th October on Barsuk (North America) and City Slang (Europe). Twelve songs written over the course of eight years, an album that started to take shape after Gibbard moved to LA, in late 2008. There, at The Ship Studio owned by his friend Aaron Espinoza (Earlimart), Gibbard has been quietly recording, using the time off his band gave him. Soon we'll know what his first solo effort sounds like.
