A year after the acclaimed “Stridulum II” (Souterrain Transmissions/ 11), goth-pop princess Nika Roza Danilova has her fourth album as Zola Jesus ready. The record is called “Conatus” and is entirely written and recorded by Danilova herself, save for some help from Brian Foote with the production. For now, you can hear the first advance track, “Vessel”, which doesn’t sound to us like there will be any massive departures from her previous style. However, we can expect a more dense and stratified sound than on her previous efforts, with more emphasis on acoustic instruments such as violin, viola, cello and double bass. “Conatus” will be out on 26th September via Sacred Bones and Souterrain Transmissions.
