There are those that think the recent “ LA Vampires Meets Zola Jesus” (Not Not Fun, 2010) is both a better proposition than anything either of the two protagonists has put out separately up now. But, it’s a question of taste. The truth is, after teaming up with Amanda Brown (yes, half of Pocahaunted is LA Vampire), Nika Roza Danilova is going solo and waving the black flag of Zola Jesus once again. The continuation of the suggestive “Stridulum” ( “Stridulum II” is now in shops) will remain in EP terrain. The renowned Chris Coady (whose CV includes work with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blonde Redhead, Beach House and Foals) is responsible for helping Danilova record three new tracks, and in the process, rework “Sea Talk”, which has been previously released. And for something to entertain the eyes, the CD version of the new “Valusia EP” (on sale 12th October from Sacred Bones) will include the videos for two older tracks, “Night” y “Clay Bodies”. Animated nightmares.
