Munich label Permanent Vacation has just released Zodiac Free Arts Club’s debut album. Behind the alias, a tribute to a mythical experimental space in Berlin, founded in 1967 by Conrad Schnitzler and Hans-Joachim Roedelius, we find Greek producer Argy. The record, “Floating World”, shows a so far unknown side of the young producer. Far from his typical tech-house, Argyris Theofilis presents a collection of nine atmospheric pieces which are much indebted to the Kosmische music of the sixties and seventies made by artists such as Klaus Schulze, Neu! and Popol Vüh. The album is full of incessantly evolving circular arpeggios, heavenly pads, mantra-like vocals and various Kraut rhythms. Argy himself describes the record’s sound as "joyful psychedelic underground." The sound benefits from the sonic warmth and richness of textures of the vintage equipment it was recorded on. “Floating World” is available now on LP.
