After the great series of singles (Ossie, D.O.K., Hype Williams) they concluded the first half of 2011 with; Hyperdub picks up where they left off releasing a debutant. Walton(first name Sam) is a 20-year old producer from Manchester. After a string of tracks and remixes available on the internet, the boy now makes his official debut with the “Walton EP”. The single contains four UK funky tracks influenced by grime and bleep house. Here we have excerpts of two of the tracks: “Mangled Riddim” - featuring an elastic, metallic sounding bass - and “Skrilla”, which combines rattling rhythms and bubbly bleeps reminiscent of the sounds coming from places like Leeds in the early nineties. An EP that confronts the present with the past of UK electronica, with skill and efficiency. Look for it from the 5th of September on.
