2009 was the year of Violens, a New York art-pop trio that have earned a deserved position in the Bands To Watch list thanks to infectious tracks like “Acid Reign”. After touring with MGMT, Grizzly Bear and Handsome Furs, producing Class Actress, remixing White Lies and The Very Best, and collaborating with Washed Out and Caroline Polachek (Chairlift) on their own songs or on the deformation of someone else’s songs (famous are their détournement exercises with George Michael and Justin Bieber videos), Violens are about to release their debut album—recorded, produced, mixed and edited by the band itself—on their label Static Recital , with songs influenced by synthetic pop and 80’s New Wave, halfway between pop psychedelia, shoegaze and electro dance-pop. The album will be available in stores as of 27th September.
