The news has reached us surrounded by mystery, in a mere 9-line-long description accompanied by video teaser that leave a lot of room for imagination. Director Vincent Moon and Efterklanghave joined forces to create “An Island”, a film as long as an album that was born from a fleeting meeting in August this year. Moon and Efterklang travelled to a Danish island to produce a series of cinematic and musical experiments during a 4-day period in which the 8 band members—the live line-up, which includes Niklas Antonson, Frederik Teige and the Broderick siblings, Heather and Peter—participated along with more than 200 local musicians and other extras. Together they created a series of performances and reinterpretations of some of the songs featured on “Magic Chairs” (Efterklang’s most recent album released in February this year through 4AD), which Moon filmed according to his personal style. This is all we know so far about a project—self-financed by both sides—we will hopefully get more details of soon here.
