Experimental musician Ulrich Troyer has a new ally for his sonic explorations in the British label Deep Medi. The Austrian producer, who has so far mainly been working on soundtracks and sound installations, has made an album that shows his passion for dub. “Songs For William” is the first of a trilogy Troyer will deliver to Mala’s label, where he gives his vision of the legacy of dub legends such as King Tubby, Sound Dimension and Rhythm and Sound. Everything on the album, from the analogue synths to the sampler, guitars and melodies are played by Troyer himself. The release will come with the first chapter of a comic telling the adventures of the William of the title, a guitar pedal. It’s out on 1st August.
