Nicholas Samuel Bindeman, the experimental musician who likes to sign his work as Tunnels, is about to start a new episode under the wing of Thrill Jockey. Known for his digressions in ambient-drone and his guitar experiments, on “The Blackout” he shows us his most poppy and “concrete” side to date. The album contains ten dense and dark tracks with melodies we haven't heard before in Bindeman's work. The compositions are rooted in eighties pop, with clear cold-wave influences, wrapped in complex layers of vintage synths and samples, which gives the sound an air of the stuff released on labels like Not Not Fun or Sacred Bones. The album is slated for release on 16th August.
