The National

Reflected on D.A. Pennebacker?s lens.

The NationalFilmmaker Donn Alan Pennebaker, responsible for some of the most celebrated music films ever (from Dylan’s “Don't Look Back” to Monterey Pop festival documentary film), will be once more behind the camera for The National. D.A. Pennebacker and his wife, the film director Chris Hegedus, will be at the helm of the recording of the show that the Dessner brothers plus the rest of the band would perform on May the 15th at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The show is a charity event -more like a choral reunion with a lot of guests than the usual The National gigs- supporting the Red Hot Organization. It can be followed live through YouTube (Pennebacker and Hegedus would direct this webcast as well as introducing the event with another of their short films) and it will be available for streaming up to four weeks after on the same channel. All profits go to Red Hot.
