Even if their name does not identify as instantly as other current luminaries of the mischievous electronic sound (we can only define this toxic concoction of instrumental hip hop, dazzling future boogie, iridescent IDM, alien folk, dubstep, crunk, 8bit pop, electrofunk or R&B with an 80‘s aftertaste). As Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, or Mike Slott, them, The Blessings, find themselves at the start of a dynamic movement coming from the heart of Glasgow which has been generated by the LuckyMe collective during the past years. In them, Dominic Flannigan (aka Dom Sum, designer for prestigious labels like Planet Mu, Warp or All City) and Martyn Flyn (aka Fine Art, as well known as a scratch dj), is to be found the founding nucleus of this family of unruly artists. Until now only djing and remixing ( Found or Profisee & Eprom, amongst others), The Blessings are just about to jump onto the promotional arena with “Galaxy High”: a 6 track EP about to be released (street date May the 16th) via Nod Navigators (a Kindred Spirits sub label focused to the beat world). Just to set the scene, at the end of the paragraph you’ll find a player with snippets of each and everyone of the tracks from The Blessings debut EP, who will be representing themselves at the next Sónar at the Lucky Me showcase. You can still buy your Sónar tickets, here.
