Thank You, a Baltimore-based unit of rhythm and action, are about to release their third album via Thrill Jockey. Jeffrey McGrath and Michael Bouyoucas, two veterans of Baltimore’s art-rock scene, are accompanied this time by Emmanuel Nicolaidis, the new drummer taking over from Elke Wardlaw, who a couple of years ago left the U.S. to settle in cold and humid Berlin.
Despite the changes, the new model Thank You is sticking to that same formula that links them to krautrock, noisy psychedelia, DNA’s No Wave and the experimental post punk of This Heat, Swell Maps or The Ex, and that’s won them a great live reputation. According to Thrill Jockey, “Golden Worry” is the trio’s most melodic album to date, and their most aggressive at the same time. We’ll have to wait until 25th January to find out whether these words are true or not.
