Not long ago, Sufjan Stevens was feeling lost, distressed and confused about his worth, not sure about the convenience of continuing recording albums everybody listens to but almost no one values appropriately, at least not like in the old days. Luckily for all of us, Stevens managed to overcome his despair and, a year after that crisis of faith, here he is again, garnering praise and becoming a serious candidate to occupy the first positions in many a list of the best of the year with “The Age Of Adz”. As if this weren’t enough, some other musicians out there are paying tribute to him.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy, DM Stith, Shannon Stephens, Half-Handed Cloud and Inlets are some of the artists participating in “Seven Swans Reimagined”, an album featuring cover versions of all the songs on “Seven Swans” (Sounds Familyre/Burnt Toast, 2004). The album, an initiative from the blog On Joyful Wings, will see the light of day on 22nd March. All the proceeds will be destined to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Here’s your chance to contribute to a good cause.
