Over at Stones Throw they like quality products and only bet on what they consider to be outstanding. This might explain their obsession with the number 10… On Sunday this week, the Californian label is throwing a party at The Sex club in Los Angeles, on a very particular date: 10th October 2010, or 10-10-10. Ten will also be the number of guest DJs, among them Baron Zen, Dâm-Funk, J Rocc, Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne, Prince Paul and the boss Peanut Butter Wolf, who will perform in strict alphabetical order, using only 45rpm 7”s during the ten hours non-stop of the party. Stones Throw have also thought about those of us who won’t be able to attend the party in L.A. and will be releasing a commemorative album featuring ten 7”s, including tracks representing the label’s history in chronological order. This is one of those rarities all headzs should possess. The box set will be released on 25th October.
