In early June we heard about the Sao Paolo edition of Sónar in 2012. It's not going to be “A Taste Of Sónar” party, but a full, three-day extravaganza - with line-ups by day and by night, exactly like the Barcelona and A Coruña versions. Yesterday the dates of this first edition were revealed: 16th, 17th and 18th March at the Anhembi - a well-known events space in the city. The organisation expects to receive more than 50,000 visitors across three days. The Brazilian metropolis got a taste of the event, back in 2004 – but then it was just one day, for 24,000 visitors. For now, few details have been revealed - but we do know that there will be four stages. There will also be two extra rooms - SonarMática and SonarCinema - which, among other things, will be a platform for avant-garde Catalan culture. To make the adventure possible, Advanced Music has teamed up with Brazilian promoter Dream Factory, responsible for events like Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro, Madrid and Lisbon. Furthermore they have the support of the Cultural Dept. of the Catalan government, through ICIC. All in all, it has the beginnings of a very successful event indeed.
