Sónar has revealed the program of SonarCinema, which will feature six documentaries and audiovisual pieces to be shown at the auditorium of the Barcelona CCCB during Sónar by Day. The main feature is “The Ballad Of Genesis And Lady Jaye”, an impressive piece on the figure of Genesis P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV). Its advance premiere is possible thanks to the collaboration of Sónar with Beefeater In-Edit, the International Music Documentary Film Festival of Barcelona. Another film highlight is “We Don’t Care About Music Anyway”, which puts the spotlight on Tokyo’s experimental music scene, featuring musicians like Otomo Yoshihide, Takehisa Ken, Hiromichi Yamakawa and Sakamoto Fuyuki. “PressPausePlay”, in its turn, is a documentary which aims to inform us of the constant changes in the music industry in the digital age, with interviews with musicians like Robyn, Sean Parker, Lykke Li, Hot Chip and Bill Drummond (co-founder of The KLF) amongst others. There will also be room for more experimental pieces about innovative audiovisual creators ( “Colour Projection”, an audiovisual study by Theo Burt based on the combination of geometric forms and simple sounds), the theoretical-musical lucubrations of crazy genius Goodiepal ( “Goodiepal And The War For Radical Computer Music”), and collaborative project “Resonance” (a collection of short audiovisual pieces between 12 and 20 seconds duration, which are the results of the collaborations between 20 reputed 3D animators and 11 sound engineers from London). Stimuli for the eyes and ears.
