A week ago, Sónar confirmed that its Japan leg, SónarSound Tokyo, will be going ahead as planned. If anyone was in doubt about their (good) intentions, here comes the Barcelona crew adding some attractions to an already exciting line-up featuring Flying Lotus, Modeselektor, Ryoji Ikeda, DJ Krush, Hudson Mohawke, Battles, Kode9, TOKiMONSTA, Dorian Concept and the illustrious Spanish delegation of bRUNA, MwesLee and BFlecha. To that string of names we can now add Underworld. Karl Hyde and Darren Price have offered to do a DJ set at SónarSound Tokyo for free, as a way of contributing to fundraising efforts for the Japanese Red Cross organised by the event. Hyde and Price will be the jewels in the crown of Saturday 2nd April with one of their rare (as in infrequent) sets.
As we told you last Wednesday, Sónar hopes that by going ahead of SónarSound Tokyo they will help bring some normality to life in the Japanese capital. The Barcelonese festival will also donate 25% of revenues from ticket for Sónar Barcelona and Sónar Galicia sold between 23rd March and 1st April to the Japanese Red Cross. Furthermore, the festival will also hold a fundraiser among participating artists, venue owners, providers and guests.
SónarSound Tokyo will take place on 2nd and 3rd April at ageHa/Studio Coast in Tokio. You can get your tickets here.
