You probably already know that avant-rap project Shabazz Palaces has been part of the Sub Pop roster since last September. However, details have just been revealed of the new album of the collective led by veteran Ishmael Butler (ex-Digable Planets). The Seattle crew’s upcoming effort will be called “Black Up” and, according to the label, it’s the album the Bedouins would make if the were beatmakers instead of desert-dwellers. Intrigued? We’ll still have to wait and see what this image translates to sonically as the release date has been postponed until 28th June. As compensation for the delay, Sub Pop offers the immediate streaming of the album for those who pre-order it before 31st May. Those who do will also get a patch designed by the people of Shabazz Palaces..
