Let’s be sparing with the information, so the impact lasts a bit longer and expectations run higher. That seems to be the strategy when it comes to communication about the upcoming edition of the festival, over at the San Miguel Primavera Sound press office. Aware of their good taste, the people responsible for the Barcelona festival choose to measure their good news, so instead of an information avalanche, they are giving us two smaller doses in two days. While two days ago they sent us details about the first confirmations for their Pitchfork stage (you can refresh your memory here), yesterday they came out with a first advance of the line-up at the Poble Espanyol on 25th and 29th May.
On Wednesday 25th, it’s all about the girls. The hypnotic Kraut-psych-rock of Japanese Nisennenmondai (it will be their first visit to Spain and you’d better buckle up, word has it their live shows are memorable) and the refreshing lo-fi indie-rock of Las Robertas from Costa Rica are presented as the first names appearing on the first day at Montjuïc. On Sunday 29th, there are more names, with Deakin playing solo (who, by the way, has returned to Animal Collective). Veterans BMX Bandits, My Teenage Stride, The Vaccines and local band Me And The Bees are all on the line-up for the closing day which will also feature the presence of Mercury Rev, who will this time play their most acclaimed album, “Deserter's Songs” (V2/Everlasting, 1998). A rich and varied menu.
As we told you yesterday, tickets are already available via See Tickets in the UK.
Update! San Miguel Primavera Sound is proud to confirm that Grinderman, the band fronted by the Australian artist Nick Cave, will be co-headlining the festival’s 2011 edition.
