Puro Instinct

Headbangers In Ecstasy

Last summer we heard about Puro Instinct (formerly Pearl Harbour) for the first time, when Ariel Pink took them on tour with him, and his support didn’t end there. A couple of months after those first shared gigs, Ariel Pink appeared in the credits of “Stilyagi” as second vocalist, and as responsible for “ambient rainclouds, drum machines and other sonic sparkles.” That song, released as a gold-coloured 7” early December, is also the first single off of the debut album of Puro Instinct, a band of youngsters formed by the sisters Skylar (15 years old) and Kaplan Piper (her elder sister). According to Skylar, their record will sound like “a ‘greatest hits that never happened’ album inspired by our favourite AOR missed connections, the MP3ADD pandemic, and the possibility that the world will be out of control this time next year.” The album, recorded live in the KDOD studio in Glendale (California) with the help of R. Stevie Moore and Kenny Gilmore (member of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti), will be out on 22nd February via Mexican Summer.
