We saw it coming. “Screamadelica” (Creation, 1991), a milestone in the history of British pop, is about to celebrate it’s 20th birthday. After announcing three concerts to play the album in its entirety, Primal Scream have decided to commemorate the anniversary with a new release. Creation is about to put out a commemorative box set adding new attractive features, both musical and non musical, to the original album. “Screamadelica - 20th Anniversary Limited Collector's Edition” includes 4 CDs (besides the disc with “Screamadelica” remastered by Kevin Shields and the band themselves, there’ll be room for remixes, a previously unreleased live show given in Los Angeles in 1991, and a remastered version of the “Dixie-Narco EP”), a double LP, a DVD (including a new documentary film, “The Making of Screamadelica”), a 50-page book and a memorabilia. All of this inside a numbered metallic box.
The box will be officially released on Monday 7th March. Judging by what we’ve seen on Amazon, the box will be priced around £100. If you’re on a tight budget, you might like to now there’ll also be a more modest “Deluxe” version, although there aren’t any definite details about it yet.
