In a quite unusual gesture, yesterday the FIB team announced the addition of Portishead to the line-up for the festival in 2011. It’s unusual because just thirty hours ago they dropped the names of three other headline bands. The Bristolian band will share a stage with Arctic Monkeys, Primal Scream and The Strokes, as the main attractions at the event which will take place from 14th-7th July in Benicàssim. Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons, Adrian Utley and co. will play the hits from their three albums together, focusing on their most recent one, “Third” (Universal Island, 2008). Nothing is yet known about a new record.
Ten days after their show at FIB, they will perform on two consecutive nights at London’s Alexandra Palace as part of the first edition of I'll Be Your Mirror, a new venture by the promoters of All Tomorrow's Parties which Portishead are curating. I'll Be Your Mirror works exactly like the ATP festivals, but also includes also film and art. The line-up so far is as follows:
23rd July (Saturday) Portishead DOOM Company The Books Factory Floor Beak>
24rd July (Sunday) Portishead Swans Beach House Liars The Passion Of Joan Of Arc Anika
