The young lycanthrope is back to give us some news concerning that album he was supposed to have released in late 2008. Back then, Patrick Wolf said his next release would be both double and dual: one of the albums would brim with “disillusionment and desperation” and the other one would be inspired by Wolf’s new love, born from a great romantic fantasy. But he backed down and released them separately, both physically and in time. First is the dark, baroque, arrogant and dramatic “ Bachelor” (Bloody Chamber Music), which was put out at the beginning of the summer of 2009. We’re still waiting for the follow-up, an album which should be its luminous and hopeful reverse, and now we know it’ll be released in May next year. Regarding this new album, Wolf said to the NME three days ago: “The new album has a direct narrative about love and optimism surviving through adversity and recession. I wanted to celebrate the love and hope I have found in the last few years."
But before the album, we have “Time Of My Life”, a song dealing with the possibility of feeling good when far away from the person you love (or used to love). The 7” comes with a cover version of Leonard Cohen’s “Anthem” on the B side and is scheduled for release on 6th December,
The song was premiered yesterday on BBC Radio 1. A swift soul out there recorded it and dropped it online. A radio rip, yes, but it sounds surprisingly good.Patrick Wolf -“Time Of My Life”
