Last August we reported on Berlin’s label Ostgut-Ton, the editorial arm of the Berghain/Panorama Bar, and their intention to celebrate their 5th anniversary this autumn. Today we know that, besides “Fünf”, the official commemorative album (a double CD release which includes 24 previously unreleased tracks by Ben Klock, Shed, Marcel Dettmann, Prosumer, Fiedel, Len Faki, Tama Sumo, Ryan Elliot and Nick Höppner amongst others, some of them recorded at the Berghain club and which will hit stores in a week), the Ostgut bosses have prepared an attractive, old-style underground mixtape - a cassette with photocopied artwork. In principle it’ll be only available at one of the two birthday parties the label will celebrate with in Berlin (this weekend, on the 28th and the 29th at the Berghain/Panorama Bar) and in London (on 27th November at Corsica Studios). The tape, curated and mixed by Ryan Elliot, features tracks by Steffi, Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Luke Slater, Prosumer, Len Faki and Deuce, all of them understood as samples of some of the best moments in the label’s history. There’ll only 1,000 copies of the mixtape, so you’ll have to use your speed and cunning to get hold of one.
