Three years after the summer release of “ Við og Við” through 12 Tónar (though the international edition via One Little Indian was released just last year), the folk chanteuse Ólöf Arnalds returns with a new album. The second solo release by the Icelandic artist will be titled “ Innundir Skinni” and will come out in her home country on July 6th, and globally in mid-September (13th in Europe, and a day later in the US) via One Little Indian. Those who have already listened to Arnalds’ new songs -some are sung in Icelandic and some in English, and they were recorded at the Sundlaugin Studios with Kjartan Sveinsson ( Sigur Rós) once more on production duties- say that they sound more complete, with better arrangements, and a wider sound palette thanks to the varied arsenal of instruments at her use. As a media hook, Björk, self-proclaimed fan of Arnalds, makes an appearance on the latter half of the song “ Surrender”.
For those who’d looking forward to getting their hands on some of Ólöf’s new tracks before the official album launch date – there will be a single on 28th June including “Innundir Skinni” and “ Close My Eyes” (a cover of the Arthur Russell song), available at all good record stores. We know from a good source that there might be a surprise regarding Arnalds coinciding with the Día de la Música Heineken 2010 in Madrid. Residents of the Spanish capital you’ve been warned.
