Morrissey is working hard. A few weeks ago he surprised us with the announcement of his upcoming autobiography (already written, at least as a draft version ready to be edited), and now the news is that Moz has a new album recorded and finished. He let it slip in an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Front Row. A few days later, the former The Smiths man issued a short press release on his website in which he, apart from slagging off EMI’s logistic efficiency and the royal wedding (and the coverage of the event in the British media), confirmed what he said during the aforementioned interview. “The follow-up to Years of Refusal is ready and fluttering wildly against the bars. There is still no record label and the years shuffle like cards. My talents do not lie in DIY.” We’ll have to wait until the smoke clears regarding his label to see the release of Morrissey’s new effort.
