New album on Glacial Movements

Loscil New album on Glacial Movements Canadian Scott Morgan, magician of textured, airy and beatific ambient-drone under the moniker of Loscil, has his seventh album ready. Unlike his previous efforts, all released on Kranky, the new effort will be brought to us by Glacial Movements, the Rome-based label specialising in all kinds of “icy” music, particularly the desolate, ambient kind. The follow-up to the brilliant “Endless Falls” (Kranky, 2010) is said to draw inspiration from images of “the coastal mountains of the Pacific Northwest, studded with glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons, and epic views.” Inspiration is also reflected in the title of the album, “Coast/Range/Arc”, a collection of seven long soundscapes that explore “the timelessness of mountainous elevations; oxygen deprived and surrounded by boundless skies.” Though the release was initially set for early April, the album will in the end arrive in mid-May.
