L.E.V. 2011

Start adding up

altJust like at every year around this time, lovers of electronic and audiovisual experimentation look towards the Spanish region of Austurias. The city of Gijón is where L.E.V. (Laboratorio de Electrónica Visual, or Visual Electronica Lab, in English) is held, and the festival has just released the first names on the line-up of the next (fifth) edition, which will be celebrated on 29th and 30th April at the Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura. For now, five names are announced, all of them more than attractive prospects. The slowed-down soulful, smoky dub (step) of King Midas Sound (the shared enterprise of Kevin Martin, poet Roger Robinson and vocalist Hitomi), the emotional neo-classical constructions of Jóhann Jóhannsson Darkstar (accompanied by a string section), the post-dubstep synth-pop of and the chameleonic Mark Pritchard under his Harmonic 313 moniker (the one he uses when he wants to go all out on robotic hip-hop, wonky beats and oblique dubstep) are good reasons to think about spending the last weekend of April on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea. Alongside them, Canadian audiovisual artist Herman Kolgen completes a first batch of confirmations that we at PG find quite unbeatable.

Soon there will be more confirmation, plus info on how to get your tickets for this fifth round of L.E.V.{vimeo width="100%" height="270"}18670648 {/vimeo}
