Tried for your love

Krystal Klear

The Hoya:Hoya club continues to bring us joy after joy. At the beginning of November, the Hoya:Hoya nights became also a record label whose first reference was a 12” shared by Krystal Klear, Lone and Illum Sphere, three regulars at the club. As opposed to Lone and Illum Sphere, more experienced musicians, Hoya001 was a baptism of fire of the debutant Krystal Klear who, only a month after that release, has put out his own record through All City Records. The first EP by this unknown artist from Manchester—like many musicians lately, he doesn’t want to reveal his real identity—features four tracks that ooze an 80’s flavour, with a special predilection for the imagery of Chicago’s house and boogie sounds. There’s no sampling of old records this time around. Krystal Klear has played or programmed all the sounds on the EP, leaving the illustrious Hudson Mohawke room to add extra piano and sax arrangements (via MIDI) to his remix of “Tried For Your Love”, the track that lends it’s name to the EP. Available in store as of 6th December.
