Coinciding with its release today via Underwater Peoples, it’s time to sample the new effort by Julian Lynch. After a quick listen this morning we can safely say that this, stylistically, is his most ambitious work to date. On the man from Ridgewood’s third album, everything seems to go well. There’s a lot of psychedelic pop in the vein of Animal Collective pre- “Strawberry Jam”, but also intimate bedroom gems a la Atlas Sound, touches of jazz in songs with lots of brass instruments, some chamber pop and, of course, a lot of drowsy folk based on subtle drones. Remember that you can hear his music firsthand on 27th May at San Miguel Primavera Sound 2011. Check out “Terra” in the meantime.
