Lovers of neo-classical minimalism will be licking their fingers upon seeing these two names in one sentence. Pianist and composer Volker Bertelmann (alias Hauschka) and cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir will be delivering a split album in September, on the small but exquisite Berlin label Sonic Pieces. The couple created a cycle of pieces based on the concept of the ocean and the different colours it can take on. The tones were the inspiration for six dynamic and strongly narrative compositions that find the pleasantly tense balance between the sombre and reflective tendencies of Guðnadóttir and the meticulous but uncomplicated lightness of Bertelmann. The album will be released on 23rd September on CD (450 copies) and LP (300).
