New recording technologies—more inexpensive, smaller and easier to carry—are affording bands the possibility to record their music in any kind of environment. And that very same technological availability and manageability is what makes it ever easier to record a live album with great quality sound and knowing that, in a matter of a few hours, you can offer the results to your fans, be it digitally or with physical support. This is what Goldfrapp have just done.
And it’s what LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip did just last week. Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory have wanted to offer their fans the chance to keep a sound document of their current tour. In collaboration with Live Here Now, the duo has uploaded one of their most recent shows, at Bristol’s O2 Academy on 9th November. The material recorded has become a live album that is available on Goldfrapp’s website. For ultra fans.
