Before the acclaimed “Lucky Shiner” (Ghostly International, 2010), Gold Panda had been releasing EPs on labels like Make Mine, Avex and their own Notown Records. Releases on which the man from Essex developed and established his sound, based on the game of contrasts via micro-sampling - a formula that wound up crystallising on the unanimously celebrated first album. Taking advantage of the conjuncture, Ghostly International announces the release of “Companion”, a compilation of the first three EPs by the British producer: “Before”, “Miyamae” and “Quitter’s Raga” . On “Companion”, a collection of small electronica gems with a distinctive homey feel (intimate, personal and comforting), we have a valuable testimony of the evolutionary process of a young creator looking for his own voice. If only for that, it deserves your attention. It's available now on digital format.
San Miguel Primavera Sound 2011 takes place on 25 and 29 May at Poble Español, and from 26 to 28 May at Parc del Forum in Barcelona. Tickets are on sale here.
