With the intention of exploring the goodness and varieties of the electronic underground, Gilles Peterson’s label released the compilation “Brownswood Electr*c” last month, featuring tracks by among others Devonwho, Schlohmo and Mosca. After the critical and public acclaim for that album, Peterson has already got the follow-up ready. “Brownswood Electr*c 2” will be released on CD and digital on 27th June. Featuring 14 new names, the collection promises to be an interesting overview of what’s cooking in the non-commercial global electronic scene. Among the artists represented are names that may sound familiar to the real Internet diggers –like Anenon, AEED, HxdB, Stray and Funk Ethics–, but most of them are virtually unknown. Which is the reason for the series in the first place: to discover new sounds and artists. Gilles Peterson wouldn’t have it any other way.
Gilles Peterson will be appearing at Sónar 2011. The Festival will take place from 16 th to 18th June at the CCCB in Barcelona, the Fira Gran Via in L’Hospitalet, L’Auditori in Barcelona and the Teatre Grec in Barcelona. Tickets are on sale here.
