Everything changed for Angelino Will Wiesenfeld on the day his ears were flooded with the diffuse precepts of the Low End Theory. Will took an interest in the beats of new and twisted abstract hip-hop as foundation for his own electronic pop, and his most recent project – Baths and his “Cerulean” (Anticon, 2010)– soon ended up outshining his previous work as [Post-foetus] and Geotic. As Geotic, Will has been self-releasing –or rather, digitally distributing– music for three years now, music that moves in the placid open fields of soundscapist ambient. It looks like, during the holiday season, Will’s body demanded sleep, recovery and relaxation, anything but hitting the MPC in search of crispy and broken rhythms. The boy started making serene pieces, and in a matter of four days –Will says he recorded all this new material between 26th and 31st December– he finished a new Geotic album. The download of that record, titled “Mend”, is available for free here. The sleeve art you see after the jump is an image of the retina of Wiesenfeld’s own left eye. Homemade indeed.
